NEW Water is seeking a technical problem-solver to join our team as a Staff Engineer. We need more than just a designer; we need an engineer who understands the heartbeat of a treatment plant. If you have experience optimizing treatment processes, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and working side-by-side with operations teams to solve real-time challenges, this is the role for you.

What You Will Do

In support of the NEW Water culture of Safety, Respect, Team, and Environment, you will act as a bridge between engineering concepts and operational reality.

 

Process Engineering & Operations Support

  • Optimize Treatment Systems: Develop a deep technical understanding of our existing and future treatment processes to drive efficiency and performance.
  • Troubleshoot Real-World Issues: Lead the troubleshooting and correction of equipment issues for recently installed infrastructure, working directly with treatment and maintenance staff.
  • Technical Advisory: Provide professional advice to internal stakeholders regarding engineering problems and process optimization.
  • Start-Up & Monitoring: Assist with the start-up and active monitoring of treatment systems to ensure design intent meets operational needs.

 

Capital Project Management

  • Project Leadership: Manage capital projects through all phases—including funding, bidding, contracting, construction, and start-up.
  • Strategic Coordination: Coordinate complex projects with the maintenance and operations of existing facilities to minimize disruption to the plant.
  • Consultant Management: Manage consulting engineers engaged in capital projects, ensuring NEW Water’s high standards are met.

 

What you need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible engineering experience. Strong preference will be given to candidates with wastewater process backgrounds.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) License (or ability to obtain within 1 year).
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, from consulting engineers to plant operators and the general public.
