The City of Fond du Lac Waterworks is accepting applications for a Lead Waterworks Operator. This position will be under the direct supervision of the Waterworks General Manager and helps to prioritize, plan, and coordinate maintenance work in the treatment plants, booster stations, and wells. This position also supervises and directs the Waterworks Operators daily to accomplish tasks.
The successful candidate will have the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to perform the
essential duties of the following:
Lead the Waterworks Operators daily to ensure WisDNR compliance is met, prioritize workload, and give
direction when necessary.
Administratively ensure proper documentation and records are maintained and filed.
Operating and maintaining well and booster pumps to provide adequate pressure and proper levels in
water storage reservoirs and elevated tanks
Monitor and maintain Radium Removal systems (HMO pressure filtration)
Monitor SCADA (Supervisory, Control and Data Acquisition) to ensure system operation and adjust as
necessary.
Take process control samples and make system adjustments as necessary
Collect bacteriological and other DNR required compliance samples
Determine causes of alarms and resolve
Research, collect, and process quotes from outside contractors to facilitate maintenance needs.
Assist with building, grounds and equipment maintenance at 15 well sites, 5 reservoir sites, 6 booster
pumping stations, 3 elevated storage tanks, 4 water treatment facilities and various other facilities through
the city
Maintain associated electronic equipment (i.e. radios, fuses, bulbs, etc.) as needed.
Complete minor plumbing repairs to chemical feed lines and other various systems.
Assist with snow removal from Utility properties located in and around the city.
Utility provides some shirts, work pants service, safety toed footwear and other required safety equipment.
Performs other duties as necessary and assigned to maintain a fully functioning Class AB municipal water
supply system.
The position also requires the employee to take part in the on-call rotation and be available for
emergency response during off-shift hours when/if necessary. On-call every third week.
Desirable Qualifications include: 4 – 5 years’ experience with utility operations with 2 years of experience
leading staff; working knowledge of the tools, methods, and materials commonly used in water facility
maintenance activities; ability to critically think and act independently, ability to use tablet, laptop, and GIS is a
plus. Cell phone provided.
Minimum training and experience required/preferred to perform essential job functions: Graduation
from high school or equivalent; 2 year Associates Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience, WisDNR
Municipal Waterworks Operator Certification with subclasses D, G, & I. Willing to train the correct candidate.

Salary Range: We offer a competitive compensation package ($34.52 – $39.22/hour) based upon knowledge,
