The Engineering Technician supports NEW Water’s Engineering Department by performing a wide range of technical
and project-based duties in alignment with the organization’s culture of Safety, Respect, Team, and Environment.
This role is responsible for coordinating and supporting engineering projects related to wastewater collection and
treatment systems, including scope development, plan preparation, permitting, contractor coordination, construction
inspection, and compliance monitoring. The position also serves as a key contact for outside utilities and
municipalities, reviews sewer extension requests, and ensures adherence to District standards and regulations.
In addition, the Engineering Technician plays a critical role in infrastructure document management and interceptor
system oversight. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining engineering plans, maps, GIS records, and
record drawings; assisting with inspection and rehabilitation programs; monitoring system capacity and flow data; and
supporting right-of-way and property management activities. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to
detail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service to both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering – Public Works Technology or equivalent
College coursework in hydrology and sewer design is desired. An equivalent combination of education,
training, and relevant experience will also be considered.
Compensation:
Hiring Range: $30.72 - $35.06 per hour
Full Salary Range: $30.72 – $43.37 per hour
