Stoughton Utilities is seeking a skilled and innovative Utility Automation/SCADA Specialist to support and advance the technologies that power our electric, water, and wastewater operations. This highly technical role oversees the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of essential automation platforms—including SCADA systems, the Outage Management System (OMS), and a variety of control, networking, and data systems. If you’re passionate about system automation, strategic problem-solving, and contributing to reliable community utilities, this is an exciting opportunity to use your skills in a dynamic environment.

In this position, you will program and deploy SCADA components, maintain OMS workflows and customerfacing tools, troubleshoot alarms and system events, and coordinate upgrades to hardware, software, and cybersecurity protections. You’ll collaborate with utility teams across electric, water, and wastewater divisions, support field staff, develop documentation, provide system training, and assist with planning and integration of new technologies. From motor control systems to networked field devices, your work will ensure seamless operation and continuous improvement of missioncritical infrastructure.

This position does not require travel outside of the Stoughton service area.

If you possess the following: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or related training, along with experience in SCADA, utility operations, or industrial automation. 
  • Knowledge of automation protocols, PLC/RTU configuration, networking, scripting, and platforms such as AVEVA InTouch, AspenTech OSI monarch, SEL, and Rockwell Automation is preferred.

This is a full-time, exempt position with a pay rate of $50.00 per hour. The role includes an excellent benefits package, including participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS).
