Village of Vesper is seeking applications for a full-time Public Works Position. The position will perform repair and maintenance to streets, water and sanitary utilities and public works. The ideal candidate should exhibit excellent communication skills, a comprehensive understanding of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools utilized in the repair and maintenance of streets, sanitary and storm sewers, ditches, sidewalks and trees, along with a willingness to obtain new knowledge. The applicant must be able to interact with the public in a professional and positive way and be problem solver. A working knowledge of water and sewer utility functions and proficiency in the operation and use of computers. A strong mechanical and electrical aptitude is also desired. Snowplowing experience and the physical ability to sustain long workdays required. On call every other weekend. Must be able to work outdoors in hot, cold, or inclement weather. The position is classified as emergency personnel and must have the ability to respond quickly to emergencies after hours and on weekends.

Additional Requirements: Include a high school diploma or GED. Experience in municipal public works department with equipment operator and laborer knowledge. Water and Advanced Sewer Certificates are required. If applicant does not have all the certificates’, they must within two years of hire, obtain Municipal Water and Distributions Operator Certifications and Wastewater-Advanced Operator Certification plus sub classes. Applicants must possess a valid Wisconsin Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement or must be able to obtain license.
