The Lab Technician plays a key role in the success of our company and ensure that the plant operates safely, efficiently and in compliance with all of our regulatory permits. The Lab Technician performs tasks throughout the day which includes interfacing with our SCADA system, running analytical tests and performing technical maintenance work supporting the laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Creates a safe work environment
-Performs digester and wastewater laboratory analysis to monitor and optimize the health and operation of the Viresco anaerobic digestion process.
-Records and analyzes statistical data concerning plant operations ensuring that the plant is running as specified.
-Troubleshoots failures and malfunctions to determine the root cause and maintains, operates, repairs and replaces laboratory equipment as necessary, including ordering supplies and equipment.
- Sets up trials, procedures, and policies to investigate biological and chemical processes.
-Collects samples for testing and reporting.
General
-Maintains a clean and presentable lab environment that represents personal pride in your work and your company.
-Provides technical support to Operations staff.
-Assures that plant operates within required standards
-Provides back-up to related positions
-Other duties and project work as assigned or apparent
-Must be able to lift 50 pounds
-Must have a valid driver’s license
Communications:
Must have the ability to actively listen to others for understanding of their needs and situations. Must be able to quickly and accurately gather pertinent information and be able to communicate this information professionally and precisely throughout the company. Must be able to additional education about wastewater and anaerobic digestion and communicate and apply principles.
Safety:
Must be able to perform all tasks in a safety conscious manner and always have your eye on safety.
Must be able to communicate safety requirements and training for the Lab environment
Must be able to update and maintain the SDS documentation
Decision Making:
Must use good judgment and be able to assess problems and situations and recommend a path forward and evaluate alternatives to resolve the problem.

Technical Knowledge:
The preferred candidate should have a knowledge or training in biology, environmental science, chemistry, or a closely related field. Knowledge of wastewater operations a plus. Should have skill in the operation of a variety of lab equipment, pumps, gauges, and other common tools. Must have the ability to perform control calculations.
Physical Abilities:
Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media. Must have the ability to operate computer equipment up to extended periods of time. Must be able to use a computer, common hand and power tools, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone, calculator, and a variety of lab equipment.
Desirable Training and Experience
Wastewater/Water chemistry, Anaerobic and aerobic wastewater treatment
